EMPLOYER IN GENERAL
Multi-national company with small (< 499) number of employees. Spun off of
parent company 15 years ago.
Not very bad and not very good employer. I think a little worse than
most.
If you are offered the Assistant to the President position better get a
golden parachute. Chances are you won't be there long. A good question to
ask would be how many people have had the position in the last 5 years and
where are they now?
I recommend this employer if you know what you are getting into and you
know what to expect.

INFRASTRUCTURE / FACILITIES
Nice facilities even though all cubicles. Moving 15 miles west in 2008.
New facility will be nice as well.

WORKPLACE / COLLEAGUES
Cliche but the people all over the world is what makes it interesting to
me. Smart, dedicated and hardworking. I have not worked with this many
smart people before. They deserve all credit for any success we may have.

LEADERSHIP / MANAGEMENT
I don't think much of the leadership. Lucky to be where they are. They
are the last vestiges of the old parent company. I don't trust any of them
because I think they are insecure in their positions.
Some positive opinions though. I think they have some good ideas but
really question if they can execute their ideas. Short attention spans and
distracted easily.

COMPENSATION / BENEFITS
USA typical insurance benefits.
Nice tuition reimbursement plan on paper but don't join the company for
this unless you make it a condition of taking the job and get it in
writing. NOBODY gets approved for advanced degree.
Salary increases are typical cost-of-living (lower than). Company execs
say compensation is higher than average when bonuses are included but the
salary surveys I have seen do not support this. Decent bonus when company
makes money.
Vacation grows slowly. 2 weeks to start, 3 after 5 years and 4 after 10.
This is something they will negotiate easily.
Did I mention no promotions? Better figure that you will be in the same
position 5 or more years. The company does not promote from within.
Openings are filled from the outside.

WORKING HOURS
My weekly working hours on average… 46 - 50 hours
Flexible but lots of hours.

TRAINING / CAREER
Really bad. I already said no promotions, opportunities are filled from
outside.
Very little development but some good experience can be gained.
Training really depends on your boss and how high up the management ladder
that your training request will go. At the VP level it is usually a no.
Just not part of the culture.
